You need to know which trade goes first and what material has to be ordered early to avoid delivery delays. The scope of works and the contract conditions have to be clearly defined.

Prepare contracts for the bigger trades and check their insurance
Organise council inspections if a consent is required

Cost control
 Health & Safety: Check contractors work safe on your site and have the   required paper work in place
 Call in and hold site meetings as required
 Hand over the completed project with all warranty documentation and sort   out any defects
